Standard, Incremental Protocol Exercise Test
Many physicians want to obtain standard, incremental protocol exercise testing values in baseline patient assessment. The clinical objective for performing a Shape-HF standard, incremental protocol exercise test is to quantify a patient’s functional capacity during standard, incremental protocol exercise.
This test duration is variable, consisting of a two-minute rest period to obtain pre-exercise baseline parameters, an exercise period of variable duration based on the testing protocol chosen by the physician, and a one-minute recovery period.
During each period of the test, the data analyzer collects data. Immediately following the two-minute rest period, the patient begins exercising on a treadmill or cycle ergometer using a protocol established by the physician ordering the test. Exercise continues to the onset of symptoms or until the patient is forced to discontinue the test.
